Youth Development on the Ute Reservation

For the past eleven years Arts-Kids and Arts-Teens have been serving the young people of the Uintah-Ouray Ute Reservation in northeast Utah. The program was designed by Social Worker Pat Sanger, who along with other Park City residents longed to respond to the variety of problems faced by today's teenagers. Arts-Kids and Teens focus on self-expression, both verbally and through a variety of creative activities. Rev. Michael Carney is the Vicar of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Whiterocks and the Coordinator of these programs. He and his wife have been serving there for three years, long enough to witness the positive impact of this work and the joy that young people find in the creative arts.
